Tramp Oil Removal and Coolant Aeration

Remove floating tramp oil while aerating machine-tool coolant

The Skimerator removes floating tramp oil and contaminants from machining coolant while aerating the coolant as it returns to the sump. A float-controlled skimmer box collects surface fluid, the pump transfers it to the separation reservoir, and cleaner coolant returns to the machine.

Choose the skimmer-box configuration based on coolant-level movement, then select the pump and reservoir stand required for the installation.

How the Skimerator Works

1. Collect

Floating tramp oil and coolant enter the float-controlled skimmer box. A removable trash screen helps protect the pump from debris.

2. Separate

The pump transfers the collected fluid to the reservoir, where tramp oil rises and cleaner coolant settles below it.

3. Return and Aerate

Cleaner coolant returns to the machine sump through the two-stage return path, aerating the coolant during operation.

Installation Requirements

Mount the reservoir level and above the coolant sump
Keep the pump fully submerged during operation
Keep the coolant-return hose sloped downward toward the sump
Confirm sump depth, access opening, and coolant-level range before ordering

Before ordering: Measure the normal, highest, and lowest coolant levels and confirm that the selected skimmer box can pass through the available sump opening.
