Separate tramp oil while returning coolant to the same sump

The Mini-Sep Diverter Kit mounts below a Mini-Skimmer™ belt oil skimmer to separate the oil-and-coolant mixture removed from the sump. Coolant is directed back to the same machine sump or tank, while separated tramp oil is routed to a separate waste container.

How the Mini-Sep Works

The Mini-Sep uses a two-chamber internal layout to separate coolant from the tramp oil discharged by the Mini-Skimmer™.

  1. The oil-and-coolant mixture removed by the Mini-Skimmer™ enters the Mini-Sep.
  2. Coolant settles and passes beneath the internal weir into the coolant-return chamber.
  3. Separated coolant exits through the return fitting and is routed back to the machine sump or tank.
  4. Separated tramp oil exits through the oil outlet and is routed to a waste container.

Installation & Setup

Install the Mini-Sep below the Mini-Skimmer™ so the skimmed oil-and-coolant mixture can flow into the separator. Secure the unit to the machine and keep the separator level during operation.

  • Route the coolant-return hose back to the same machine sump or tank.
  • Route the tramp-oil discharge hose to a separate waste container.
  • Keep the internal brass fittings parallel to the top of the tank.
  • During initial setup, fill the separator tank with approximately 2 cups of mixed coolant.
Setup requirement: Correct fluid level and a level installation are important for proper separation and discharge through the two outlets.

Designed for Mini-Skimmer™ Coolant Applications

The Mini-Sep adds a secondary separation stage to a Mini-Skimmer™ installation. Rather than sending the complete skimmed mixture to waste, the system separates the discharge so coolant can return to the machine while collected tramp oil is directed to a waste container.
